RM of Norton’s story
The Rural Municipality of Norton No. 69 lies in the southeast part of Saskatchewan. It was incorporated as a rural municipality on December 13, 1909.
The name probably comes from a town in England. Norton is understood to mean "north settlement."
Several communities have grown up within its boundaries. Amulet, Forward and Khedive were once villages: Forward dissolved at the end of 1947, Amulet on January 1, 1965, and Khedive on January 1, 2002. Moreland and Wallace remain as localities. Today the village of Pangman sits within the RM and serves as its seat, and the municipal office is located there.
